Over 22 portfolio companies from 11 states were represented at Tecum Capital’s first CEO Summit on Thursday, Sept 13, 2018. The well-received event was held at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, in downtown Pittsburgh, and 26 CEOs and various company representatives participated. In an afternoon with Tecum Capital professionals and an implementor, it was a dynamic opportunity for these leaders to spend time networking and exchanging ideas with their peers and gather concrete solutions to apply to their own business situations. Key topics discussed included those topics covered in the book Traction, by Gino Wickman.

Pittsburgh Steeler NFL Quarterback, Charlie Batch, kicked off the event with a 45-minute working lunch and a speech titled, “Expect Your Best: Lessons Learned to Motivate You and Your Team to Be Ready, Be Resilient and Be the Pro”. His presentation was well received and inspired the group. Tecum Capital, and some of its portfolio companies represented at the Summit, generously contributed to Charlie’s charity foundation the “Best of the Batch”.
This presentation was followed by three 30-45-minute workshops conducted by Michael Halperin, a professional facilitator of Traction, by Gino Wickman. Workshops were followed by three 30-45-minute sessions of C-level participant sub-groups where attendees had the opportunity to discuss the key topics with their peers and how these topics are impacting their business and as leaders of their organizations.
After the event, cocktails were enjoyed by all at the rooftop Biergarten at Hotel Monaco followed by a private dinner at the Altius restaurant on Mt. Washington, overlooking downtown Pittsburgh’s scenic cityscape and the Ohio, Monongahela, and Allegheny rivers. Those attending the dinner also included the entire Tecum team, the Tecum professionals that were facilitators at the afternoon event, and some Tecum LPs.
Many of the Summit attendees were able to attend our annual LP meeting the next day at Treesdale Golf and Country Club, where they had an opportunity to interact with many of our institutional and individual investors.
Tecum Capital’s CEO Summit was an opportunity to convey to our portfolio companies how important they are to us, and to provide them the best opportunity to be successful. During the afternoon workshops, they discussed practical business techniques, had the chance to share and learn from their peers, and acquire insight from many Tecum Capital professionals who participated as facilitators at each table. The event was enjoyed by all, and Jeff Jensen, CEO of Connecticut Electric, succinctly detailed the day in a letter to his employees – see here!
Tecum Capital truly enjoyed hosting this special summit for its CEOs, and other portfolio company’s representatives, and look forward to future events to enable our industry leaders to continue to interact and network with their peers and share ideas to promote more effective leadership!
