Steve Gurgovits, managing director of Tecum Capital, was interviewed for and is featured in a recently published article in American Banker Magazine regarding the increased attraction of a SBA program that had recently been overlooked of late. This program, called the Small Business Investment Companies program, or SBIC, involves business investments that are made with privately owned and managed funds in conjunction with SBA-backed loans. Recently, bigger banks had continued to participate in the SBIC program, but after its 2015 peak, community banks tended to be uncomfortable with venture-type investments that required more patience.
