Stephen Gurgovits, Jr. of Tecum Capital, spent some time with Bill Flanagan, host of WPXI’s “Our Region’s Business”, explaining private equity and all it encompasses.
Tecum Capital is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based private investment firm deploying capital in lower middle market companies. Tecum provides mezzanine debt and equity investments in growth-oriented middle-market companies across many industries, including manufacturing, value-added distribution, and business services. Since 2006, the team has collectively invested more than $1.0 billion in over 100 platform and add-on acquisitions.
In the interview with Bill, Steve discusses Tecum Capital’s role as an SBIC, investing capital in private businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) licenses and regulates SBICs, and provides funding to qualified ones. Tecum often partners with middle-market companies looking at succession strategy or growth opportunities. Steve also shares how Tecum Capital becomes a partner to help management teams grow.
